Shagufta Feroz, M.D. tells us our bodies contain 3kg-25kg of toxins, including free radicals, mercury, sugar, C-reactive proteins, caffeine, cholesterol, pesticides, and homocysteins. Although our systems naturally detoxify, if we are not in a healthy state toxins can accumulate, leading to asthma, eczema, flue, skin allergies, obesity, bloating, and depression. Feroz suggests eating whole foods, getting plenty of sleep, exercising outdoors, insuring proper water intake, and practicing stress management techniques to help the detoxing process. Biorhythms also play an important role, and Feroz advises letting “nature take its time…don’t try to shift your biochemistry drastically to the summer biorhythms.”
