WebMD discusses a problem we don’t like to think about: constipation. Lifestyle changes are more effective than laxatives in the long run, and lead to better digestive health. Get some exercise! Inactivity is a major cause of constipation. Eat a high-fiber diet, which adds bulk to stools and helps things move through your system more quickly. Don’t let yourself get thirsty; drink enough water so that your urine is light yellow or clear. Avoid fatty junk foods and over-the-counter supplements. Too many laxatives actually causes constipation, and finally, avoid “holding it,” which negatively impacts your body’s natural signals.
