To stretch or not to stretch before or after exercise—there doesn’t seem to be much consistency on the answer to that question. The conflicting advice can be confusing, and WebMD offers some suggestions. The American College of Sports Medicine recommends regular flexibility exercises. Those of us who sit at a desk all day can benefit from two-minute stretch breaks each hour. The confusion comes when discussing the benefits of stretching before or after exercise. According to one expert, “Stretching or flexibility should be a part of a regular program. It can be wherever you want to put it.”
