3 Common Signs of a Low-Functioning Thyroid

Do you want to learn how to naturally “reboot” your thyroid?

A healthy thyroid is crucial to feeling your best. It is your metabolism regulator and may be connected to your struggles with chronic fatigue, weight gain, or depression. Understanding how your thyroid is –or isn’t–functioning is vital to maintaining optimal health.

Your thyroid, located just below the voice box, is a gland comprised of two lobes on either side of your windpipe. It is a part of the endocrine system that works at producing and storing hormones useful for various bodily functions, including metabolism. Well-functioning metabolism improves functioning of your brain, heart, and muscles.

Problems with the thyoid are most often connected to hypothyroidism.Watch out for the following symptoms:

  1. Fatigue

A common symptom of hypothyroidism, fatigue indicates that your body is having a difficult time burning body fuel for energy. Try adding coconut oil to your diet, as this ignite your metabolism and re-energize you.

  1. Feeling Cold

A poorly-functioning metabolism can create a consistent sensation of feeling cold. If your body’s thyroid is working well, it  will expend energy, generating residual heat as it burns fat.

  1. Trouble Losing Weight

A healthy thyroid supports healthy metabolism, which helps maintain a healthy weight. When your metabolism is slow, losing and maintaining your weight is extremely difficult. Start with exercise and a healthy diet, but if you still aren’t losing weight, investigate your thyroid health.

So, how can you improve thyroid health?

  • Try a hypothyroidism diet. This diet is mainly comprised of the following:
    • wild-caught fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids
    • coconut oil and seaweed
    • probiotic-rich foods
    • sprouted seeds like flaxseed and chia seeds
    • nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables

Also, reduce or eliminate refined flour products, sugar, conventional dairy, and fluorine and chlorine-laden tap water, which inhibit iodine absorption. Iodine-deficiency disturbs thyroid function.

Finally, include all-natural supplements like iodine, selenium, fish oil, a vitamin B complex, the amino acid L-tyrosine, probiotics, and ashwagandha, an adaptogenic herb.
